So yes, for those who don't know yet, I have given birth. Last December 5, to be exact, to a bouncing baby boy who weighed a whopping 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long. His name is Justin Ericsson (yes, spelled like the mobile phone brand) and he's the reason why I no longer watch as much tv, sleep for more than 5 hours at a time, or eat my meals leisurely.

Justin on his first 5 minutes of life.
I labored for 12 hours, although technically it was a lot more than that since the labor was induced (i.e. my doctor put me on an IV to stimulate contractions because he was already 40 weeks old, the latest a baby can be sustained in the womb barring complications).

Our first family picture.
Can I just say that husbands are absolutely useless when it comes to labor and delivery?! As my brother puts it, they're only there for token support. Because really, what else can they do? They can't make the pain and effort any less, and it's not like they can assist in the actual process. All they can do, as Eric did, is stroke the wife's hair (which, trust me, is more annoying than soothing when you're in the midst of contractions) and say "Breathe, hon, just breathe," to which I was so tempted to snap back, "I know how to breathe, just shut up!!." But of course, I didn't, because kahit papaano, at least he was there. Plus he took nice pictures.

How's life as a new mom? That deserves a blog entry by itself.

My baby is one month old!
You know the saying, "Time flies when you're having fun"? Well, it also flies when you have a baby. It's amazing how different he looks now. His personality (i.e. crying style, expressions) change pretty fast as well. Before I know it, he'll be walking, then going to school, then getting married and leaving me-- waah!

Up to now, I still can't believe Eric and I produced something so...so...perfect. Okay, so I'm biased and it's still many years to go before we find out if he's really a miracle sent from heaven or a punishment for whatever wicked deeds we may have done... But for now, he's really the best Christmas gift we both could ever receive.
