How I'm spending (some) weekends in 2006

Finally got to watch King Kong yesterday, and that ends my list of must-see movies for 2005. Time to look ahead at what's showing in 2006:

Munich
The Plot: In the tragic aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics, a Mossad agent (Bana) tracks Palestinian terrorists who assassinated Israeli athletes.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
The Plot: With the Ice Age at its end, Diego, Manfred, and Sid are worried that the melting ice will destroy their valley. Their take it upon themselves to unite and warn everyone about the situation.

Poseidon
The Plot: After a tidal wave causes a luxury ocean liner to capsize, a handful of survivors endeavor to find a way to the water's surface.
Personal note: I grew up watching (and loving) the original, as well as the other disaster movies of my parents' era, like "The Towering Inferno," so I'm watching this partly for sentimental reasons.

Superman Returns
The Plot: After a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel returns to Metropolis, only to find Lex Luthor is back to his old tricks -- and Lois Lane may have moved on.
Personal note: One of Eric's filmmaker friends from Australia is in the production team and when we met up during our honeymoon, he shared a lot of behind-the-scenes gossip, so an added incentive to watch this is to check if these gossips are true.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
The Plot: When Captain Jack Sparrow finds out he owes a blood debt to ghostly Davey Jones, he desperately searches for a way to pay it off, or else face eternal damnation in the afternoon. And he's not above interrupting the wedding plans of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann to do it.

X-Men 3
The Plot: When a cure is found to treat mutations, lines are drawn amongst the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier, and the Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto.
